Ron Tassoni (Haverford, PA) wrestling 170 lbs. recently captured the Willie Walters/Jaye Copp Holiday Tournament. Tassoni, who will be wrestling in Virginia next year at Washington & Lee University, earned a bye in the first round and got things started with a quick fall in the quarterfinals, and a 18-2 win in the semifinals. In the finals, he fell behind Gabe Mead from Sherando High School before wearing him down and ending the day with a pin.
Tassoni said, “It is always great to win a tournament and it was a good experience for our team to build on. We are excited about the league matches coming up.”
Ford head coach Jamie Griffin said, “The boys had a good showing, and it is always good to compete away from home and see some different wrestlers.”
