Jim Crytzer Memorial Tournament
On Saturday 8 teams competed at the 2nd annual Jim Crytzer Invitational. The Washington and Lee Generals had a good team performance, finishing in third place behind John Carroll (OH) and Gettysburg (PA). Other participating teams were Scanton (PA), St. Andrews (NC), West Virginia Tech (WV), Greensboro College (NC), and SVU (VA).
Five Generals wrestlers made it into the championship match- Zach Papin (149), Shane Conners (157), Joe Scott (165), Brandon Lefore (174), and Matt Kaminer (285). All five of them finished in 2nd place.
Also placing were Michael Dik (141 lbs, 4th place), Alec Horne (165 lbs, 5th place), Chris McCrackin (149 lbs, 6th place) and Iszak Morgan (184 lbs, 6th place).
Dual vs. John Carroll
The night before the Crytzer Invitational, visiting John Carroll squared off against the Generals in a dual meet, with John Carroll prevailing by a 27-16 margin. Out of the 7 contested bouts, Zach Papin (149), Shane Conners (157), and Joe Scott (165) won, and Matt Kaminer received a forfeit when the John Carroll heavyweight did not wrestle.
Looking ahead to the Centennial Conference Duals
Over the next four weekends the Generals will face each team in the Centennial Conference. The results of these duals will determine the regular season Conference champion, and on February 11th, the Generals will head to Hoboken, NJ for the Centennial Conference Championships.
