Coach Shearer spent a week at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs at the National Team Training Camp.

Just like March is the time for the conclusion to the folkstyle season in high school and college, with each state hosting a state tournament and the NCAA Championships, the summer is the time for major competitions in the olympic wrestling styles, Freestyle and Greco-Roman. Last week was an exciting time for the W&L coaching staff as coach Shearer and coach Radsky took part in major training camps.

Coach Shearer travelled to Colorado Springs, where the senior national team was training for the senior world championships (August 21-26 in Paris, France), and for the upcoming Spanish Grand Prix. In addition, the cadet (under 17 years old) and junior (aged 17-20) national teams were also working out at the Olympic training center in Colorado Springs. They will also be competing at the world championships for their respective age groups (August 1-6 in Finland for the juniors and Sept 4-10 in Greece for the Cadets). It was a great opportunity to see the best wrestlers and coaches in the U.S. in action in the same roof.

A three day training camp was held at Virginia Tech University in Blacksburg, VA and the team flew out today (Wednesday) to Fargo in anticipation of the biggest and toughest high school wrestling tournament in the country.
